Kikuta crafted the software instruments specifically for the songs in this game, so I don't know that swapping them out will be an improvement.
The jury is still out on the soundtrack for me. My buddy and I will do the voices ourselves, hahaha. And it still looks like it can maul you to death pretty quick if you're not at least somewhat prepared it throws a fire breath and fire bouquet back-to-back (which it didn't do in the original). I rather like that, it's a nice touch and a feeling of nostalgia.Īs far as the Cat's difficulty, well, again, it only *seems* that way because they got rid of a lot of the cheap hit detection issues where half of your swings would just whiff for no apparent reason. I find it kinda funny they used the exact same sound effect for bosses exploding. One thing I do notice, is that some of this music does not have such high/low pitch peaks like the SNES Chiptunes do which will make some themes (like the dwarf village theme) a lot easier on the ears. The actual voices? I don't see anything too terribly wrong. It's average in some places, and decent in others. I can see where the voice acting thing/lipsynching might be off-putting to some people but personally it doesn't bother me.
